In the late 1990s Memon was responsible for writing guidance on interviewing children for the Scottish Executive, and on how to interview traumatised children who were undergoing therapy but whose evidence needed to be collected without contamination from this therapy. Her research on interviewing from young children to older adult witnesses contributed to changes in the way interviews are conducted and how vulnerable witness statements are treated in court.
